Sunday Leisure At Villa Excellance Beach Resort

During the third week of January 2011, I asked my wife if it is okay for her and the kids to prepare for an out-of-town day tour somewhere in Batangas or Cavite. I was considering a beach resort that will not be costly on the budget yet classy in amenities.

I started browsing the internet and came accross Villa Excellance Beach Resort located in Tanza, Cavite. Since their website provided factual details of resort amenities and facilities, I decided to set our day tour.

Tanza, Cavite is 32.47 kilometres (20.18 miles) from Pasig City. It was formerly part of General Trias. The western part of Tanza is Manila Bay, the coastline is 10.2 kilometers marked by stretches of warm grey sandy beach.

Mommy's B'day In Tagaytay City

We drove the early hours of Sunday, January 9, 2011 towards Tagaytay City to celebrate my wife's 46th birthday in any ideal resort. The weather was not quite good, there were rainshowers the night before and early morning. It became more persistent after exiting Sta. Rosa Tollway (SLEx) and while driving along Sta. Rosa - Tagaytay Road in Silang, Cavite.

Tagaytay City is 56.09 kilometers (34.85 miles) from Pasig City. It lies on top of the Tagaytay Ridge which is 640 meters (2,100 ft) above sea level, the highest point in Batangas. The ridge provides a spectacular view of Taal Lake and Taal Volcano. The city is a popular summer tourist destination because of its cool climate due to its high altitude.

Baguio City - Rustic Yet Cosmopolitan

My wife had already completed all formalities for our Baguio City trip. She booked our stay in Pine Breeze Cottages located along Bokawkan Road. The cottage we rented is fully furnished, modest in design and layout. It has two bedrooms, a toilet and bath (with hot water of course), a spacious living with an adjacent dining area and a fully-equipped kitchen. The vicinity of Pine Breeze Cottages was always kept clean and tidy. Pine trees abound the area, the gardens are well trimmed and maintained. It is situated on top of a hill so one have a vantage view of Bokawkan and nearby areas. There is 24-hour security and proximity to city center is relatively close. The cottage was big enough for my family at a daily rate of P2,800.

Talisay, Batangas & Club Balai Isabel

Tagaytay has been made famous by its view of Taal Lake and its volcano. However, there is one lakeside town that never became tourist destination because it lacks the resort facilities.

Talisay is a 3rd-class municipality in the province of Batangas. It is 84 kilometers south from Manila. Talisay is right on the shores of the world-famous Taal Lake.

Recently Talisay has transformed itself into a resort town, making use of these superb views and access that they have to Taal Volcano and Taal Lake. Many resorts that fit a wide range of budgets has sprouted along the town.

The Churning of The Milk Ocean

If you happen to be or in-transit in Suvarnahbumhi International Airport in Bangkok, Thailand chances are you will not miss the full-size diorama of a typical Hindu mythology right after clearing the Immigration.

The statue depicts one of the famous scenes from Hindu literature - The Churning of the Milk Ocean.

The Churning of the Milk Ocean tells of the story where Asuras and Devas (Celestial Beings) cooperated to churn the sea for thousands of years in order to extract the elixir of immortality, coveted by both groups.

The Devas are engaged in a tug of war with the Asuras. Each team is holding onto one end of the king of serpent - Vasuki (a.k.a. Naga). The center of the serpent is coiled around Mt. Mandara, which is a pivot and at the base of this pivot would be Vishnu, incarnated as a huge turtle.

As the ocean churned, a deadly poison known as halahala emerged. Shiva drank this poison and his wife stopped it in his throat with her hands, causing the throat to turn blue.

The cooperation between the Devas and Asuras was shattered with Vishnu taking the form of Mohini — a beautiful and enchanting damsel who served to distract the Asuras while distributing the nectar to the Devas. The Devas having fulfilled their plan of acquring all the Amrita banished the Asuras out of Heaven and into the underworld.
